International Commercial and Engineering (ICE) Insurance Holdings was formed in 1996 and has a 25 year history of successfully investing in the insurance sector.
ICE has managed, structured and owned successful insurance underwriters, re-insurers, insurance and re-insurance brokerages, captives, claims managers, fintech and insurance software businesses Angola, BVI, Bermuda, Ghana, Guernsey, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Mauritius and the United Kingdom. ICE has set the standard in several markets using is transparent, risk adjusted approach to investing in and managing businesses. ICE can structure a solution to the most complex insurance business requirements both from a risk structuring and an insurance business perspective with strategic offices in The United Kingdom , South Africa and Mauritius.
OUR HISTORY
1996
Baronscourt holdings (British Isles) (Ultimately renamed International Commercial and Engineering ICE Insurance Holdings in 2015) , Baronscourt South Africa and Baronscourt UK (Insurance and re-insurance brokerages) registered and commence trading.
2001
Acquired 100 % shareholding in Companhia Geral de Seguros de Moçambique (CGSM).
2001
Partnered with Gerhard Du Toit and together funded and incubated Kindle Insurance Technologies using CGSM as the test platform.
2002
Established Selene Re insurance company in the BVI.
2002
Established Baronscourt Re-insurance brokers Namibia.
2003
CGSM changed its name to Global Alliance Seguros.
2005
Angola- ICE Insurance Holdings was awarded a Property and Casualty and a Life license (first private company in 30 years) under the name GA Angola Seguros.
2005
Global Alliance Holdings Awarded a P&C license in Ghana under name Global Alliance Ghana Insurance Co. Global Alliance Holdings owned 60%. Edward Mensah (Marsh representative in Ghana) and Kwessi Essel Koumbson (Aon Rep in Ghana) Each held 20%.
2006
Established Global Alliance Properties Angola and South Africa.
2007
Established Nacional Brokers in Angola.
2007
Sold shareholding in Nacional Brokers Angola.
2009
Global Alliance Ghana which was sold to Activa group.
2010
Funded and Incubated Allied Insurance Brokers Angola and AHN Network.
2011
Global Alliance Mozambique sold to Barclays/ABSA Insurance.
2011
ICE makes its first investment into Askari an online distributer.
2013
GA Angola Seguros sold to Saham (later renamed Sanlam).
2015
ICE insurance Holdings registers specialist insurance company, ICE Seguros Mozambique.
2019
Askari makes strong inroads across Africa into 13 countries.
2021
Sold Allied Insurance Brokers shareholding back to managing shareholder and on sold to Olea.
2021
ICE Seguros Mozambique sold to Hollard.
